Last minute wedding

Planning a wedding, especially a destination wedding usually takes quite some time. I usually spend at least a year, sometimes up to two, with each couple from their initial enquiry to the wedding day itself. However, not all weddings require such a lengthy planning process, and when I was contacted by a frantic couple, 2 weeks before their wedding date, there was no doubt we’d be able to pull off their dream wedding.

I was originally contacted by the best friend of the groom in a panic that he needed to plan a wedding and he had no idea to start. Well he had certainly come to the right place. With no destination or ideas in mind, I set about putting together some initial suggestions and ideas together for them to consider.

Within a few hours, we had a destination, a venue and a theme chosen. Koh Samui was to be the destination, Conrad the venue and simple, elegant white the theme. Having a wedding at Conrad, how could they choose anywhere other than the stunning pool stage to say I Do.

Over the next few days we worked very closely together choosing photographer, hair and make up artist, florist, decor choices and the menu’s. Within the week everything was all finalised and the dream team was chosen. The only thing left to do was wait for the happy couple to arrive on the island.

Bliss Events were in charge of making the venue look stunning.

Even with only a couple of weeks notice, Safiyyah and Dixon had 12 family and friends join them on their special day. A simple tea ceremony started the day before breaking with tradition and doing couple photographs around the venue prior to the ceremony.

As guests gathered to receive their welcome coconuts, we were ready to start ahead of schedule, something that rarely happens with a wedding!

A short, simple ceremony conducted by Alfredo joined Safiyyah and Dixon as husband and wife in a beautiful setting amongst their closet family and friends.

After the congratulations were passed to Safiyyah and Dixon, we did the formalities of signing the certificate and cutting of the cake. The marble theme is very popular at the moment and we had a delicious cake to fit in.

Unfortunately, the weather suddenly decided it didn’t want to play nice any more and a storm descended upon us. Thankfully the ceremony was completed and guests could enjoy the yummy canapés that were served whilst watching a mesmerising thunder storm.

This gave Safiyyah and Dixon some much deserved time alone to take in the importance of the day and to change into their evening outfits. It also gave us the opportunity to move the reception venue indoors. Originally we had set up a gorgeous fairy light canopy on the lawn overlooking the ocean, but we had to take the decision to move inside. Thankfully, Conrad has a gorgeous back up plan that still allowed us to decorate beautifully and host a glamorous wedding reception.

Instead of speeches and the formal first dance, Safiyyah & Dixon kept everything very relaxed. Instead, they enjoyed the company of their closest family and friends, enjoyed a wonderful Thai set menu and plenty of laughs and drinks until late into the evening.

So lovely readers, not every dream wedding takes months or even years to create. All of this could be yours in a matter of weeks!
